A: Vellum paper is translucent with a frosted appearance but they show up as being opaque because they were scanned instead of photographed. We do this so that you have a higher resolution image to look at.
A: I prefer using Prismacolor on vellum due to the unique qualities that this combination offers. Vellum paper is a translucent paper that provides a smooth, rich texture- making it an excellent medium for detailed, full-value drawing.
Vellum is of higher quality, thicker and more durable than tracing paper. Vellum also is smoother in feel and offers a richer texture to draw on in my opinion. I used tracing paper in the early years of my career for concept sketches but switched over to vellum as soon as I discovered it.
